During optometry school, Dr. Collins was involved in several organizations, including the Optometric Private Practice Club and Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. She was also the recipient of several awards, including the Wisconsin Foundation for Vision Awareness Scholarship, Fourth Year Outstanding Clinician Award, top Southern College of Optometry National Board of Examiners in Optometry Part I Award, and First and Second Year Basic Science and Clinical Skills Awards.

During her clinical internships, Dr. Collins conducted eye examinations at the Southern College of Optometry low vision department as well as Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Memphis, Tennessee. She gained experience in low vision rehabilitation while working with patients who had diseases such as macular degeneration and glaucoma. Dr. Collins plans to offer these services, including prescribing and fitting magnifiers, telescopes, and various other low vision optical aids. 

Prior to optometry school, Dr. Collins grew up in Galesville, Wisconsin and currently resides in Waukesha. While attending college in La Crosse, she worked as an optometric technician, and this is where she gained an interest in the profession of optometry. During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and reading.
